Overview

What you'll find below is an abridged version because I can't be bothered to type it all out here.

I've been teaching in higher education since 2012, and have taught a wide range of subject matter over the years: thermodynamics, technical communication, chemical engineering design, process modelling, numerical optimisation, mass and energy balances, heat transfer, mass transfer, research methodology, and process control. My research interests include multi-scale modelling, molecular simulation, and chemical thermodynamics. I use both Moodle and Blackboard for teaching and learning.

I'm familiar with simulation packages such as MCCCS Towhee, ms-2, and Materials Studio. I sometimes use Aspen Plus and COCO. In terms of coding tools and languages, I'd say I'm most familiar with GNU Octave/Matlab, but I have used Python and Fortran90/95 too. I've also done some work using Claude Code and OpenCode.

I'm pretty familiar with Windows (all versions from 95 onwards) and I use MacOS regularly too. I have used Ubuntu, CentOS, MS-DOS, and DR-DOS too. In terms of productivity software, I use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint regularly, but I do sometimes use LaTeX and CLI tools such as marp.

My regular research work includes emacs, bash, PBS scripting, and using high performance computing facilities to execute Fortran90 programs. I currently have a "C2" rating (since 2025) from the National Research Foundation, which I guess means I'm officially an established researcher.
